Happy Trails

Safety on the bike/ walking trails is often brought up. I am of the belief that maintaining the trails is the biggest factor where safety is concerned. I would like to see the surface of trails kept free from obstructions and overhang. Solar lighting along the trails or at least in specific darker areas of the trails, I feel would provide better safety as well.

Public Transportation in St. Albert

Public transportation is a huge concern going forward. We all love our cars but it seems we are robbed of more and more of our time in congested traffic each day. There are many areas of St. Albert where traffic bottlenecks. In a citizen promoted traffic count of Akinsdale for example: last November in a 2 week period over 16,000 cars passed down Arlington Drive and there were other areas that it was even  more. In a perfect world we would all work in St Albert, but as it stands many have to travel into Edmonton and as well endure the extra charge for parking when they get there. Public transportation must be convenient, quick and safe for people to get on board. I do believe, as do many I have spoken with that light rail transit is the answer. If the transit is planned properly it can pay for itself in no time at all (key words, planned properly). I also realize in the winter months someone isn’t going to trek several blocks to catch a train but if you are going to pay to park in Edmonton, why not instead park where the train leaves St. Albert.

Biking is another issue. I know people who would bike to Edmonton and some that do, but it scares me to see them riding their bikes on the trail and I can’t imagine getting across the ring road. I would like to see solutions brought forward for straight direct and safe bike trails.

Solutions brought forward is another strong value of mine. I am not an expert and I am great at finding experts, but I would like to become expert at finding experts. St. Albert is full of brilliant people who I would love to see share their expertise. Many of our citizens have traveled the world and are connected  to experts in many fields. It is my plan to become a promoter of the people of St. Albert and show the world what we can do. Again, positive people find positive solutions.
